Good article... luckily your masters will also useful in the outside world.
I wanted to hate this article as i have sympathy for traditional higher education values of critical thinking and original research, but Mr. Taylor makes a good argument. Division of labour? A friend of mine in a communications department was reprimanded for including rhetoric in his course. Apparently that was reserved for only the English department. Yikes.
this article scared me. When i read it this week, I sent it to a few people. I tell myself that it isnt quite the same in Canada..
I have to say, his suggestions on how to improve the higher education system were DEAD ON. from my experience as an undergrad+grad student, all of his ideas were exactly the kind of change we need.
